Shelby police help stranded woman get home

- Shocked and thankful are two words Alfreda Boswell is using after Shelby police went above and beyond to get her back home.

Boswell was helping a sick friend by driving him home to Fletcher, NC and then driving back to her home in Fort Mill - a total of four hours of driving.

On the way home, her gas light came on.

"Well I paniced when I realized that I didn't have my wallet. I just prayed that I would get somewhere well-lit and I could get some help," Boswell said.

Boswell pulled into the Fastop in Shelby and asked the clerk if they had roadside assistance.

The Fastop couldn’t help, so as a last resort she called the police hoping they could get her a tow truck. Three officers showed up, and one of them, Officer Josh Richard, put his own money in her tank to fill her up!

With the help of three officers, Boswell made it home to Fort Mill safe and sound.

Unfortunately, her wallet is still missing but she now has a story about her run-in with police, a story with a happy ending!
