BELMONT, NC (WJZY) - A former Belmont High School teacher and registered sex offender is behind bars again. Jason Scott Webb is accused of threatening the police officer who put him in jail.
Last year, Lincolnton Police Detective Brent Heavner spoke to FOX 46 Charlotte about a sting operation set in place to catch sexual predators in the act. Heavner posed as a 14-year-old girl online and Jason Scott Webb took the bait.
Webb was one of 17 people apprehended during that operation which used social media apps, message board and texting.
Police told FOX 46 Charlotte he thought he was meeting a teenage girl in a public park only to find out it was a trap.
Now Heavner is being threatened by the sex offender he apprehended.
Webb pled guilty to soliciting a minor last year. He got probation and had to register as a sex offender.
Webb lost his job as an English teacher at South Point High School in Belmont
Now, he could face possible jail time for violating his probation and threatening Detective Heavner.
Webb ended up back in court, where he pled guilty to the misdemeanor of threatening and harassing an officer online and by phone calls.
Webb could face a year in prison if he is found guilty.
