CMPD investigating shooting at Midnight Diner parking lot

- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after a man was shot in the Midnight Diner parking lot early Monday morning.

Officers responded to 115 E. Carson Street around 2:30 a.m. in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon with one victim that had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Tony Johnson was taken to CMC and is in surgery, according to authorities.

No suspect(s) are in custody.

One man was arrested on scene for assaulting an officer, but he was not involved in the shooting, according to CMPD.

The Midnight Diner remains open for business.

This is an ongoing investigation.
