Man killed in east Charlotte crash identified

- One person has been killed following a two-vehicle crash in Charlotte Monday evening. 

CMPD said the accident happened at 4401 Gainesborough Road.

When officers arrived they found a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox in the backyard of a storage building at 4401 Gainesborough Road.

The vehicle had been traveling in the 4500 block of Shamrock Drive when it sideswiped a 2005 F-150 pick-up truck pulling a lawn equipment trailer that had been heading in the opposite direction.

The Chevrolet continued into oncoming lanes before running off the roadway and hitting a utility pole.

The Chevrolet hit a storage building at 4401 Gainesborough Road.

Medic and Charlotte Fire arrived and pronounced, Ralph Clark Black, dead on scene. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash, according to CMPD.
