Family, friends hold vigil for man missing since April

Andy Sigmon is 23-years-old and hasn't been heard from since early April.

He grew up working at Little Pigs BBQ. That's where family and friends gathered Monday night to try and get some answers.

"We just want to know that you're OK Andy," Andy's mother said.

Andy's mother told FOX 46 Charlotte she hasn't seen her son since April 5, 2016.

"It's a living nightmare. Every waking second of every agonizing passing day is just one heartbreaking second after another," she said.

Andy was last seen by family and friends on April 4, leaving work in his hometown of Newton. He was spotted in a wooded area in Davie County and gone without a trace the next day.

All sheriff's deputies found was his empty Jeep along the side of the highway.

"He was a really fun, caring person and he's basically a homebody. That's what makes no sense about the whole thing."

A hometown boy who made a lasting impression on the community.

On Monday night, more than 50 family members and friends held candles and balloons in his honor, praying for his safe return.

"It really fills my heart to know that there are this many people who love and support Andy Scott," his mother said.

Andy's former boss at Little Pigs BBQ organized the vigil, and is still shocked from the call he got more than a month ago saying he was missing.

"I was here at work. Gut-wrenching. My heart dropped to my stomach," he said.

Sadness...knowing a strong family bond will be broken until Andy is found.

"Kind, caring, loving. He loved his grandparents. Grandma, he loved em'. He loved his family. So we miss him."

The family said law enforcement has not been able to track Andy's cell phone and they don't know if foul play is involved. If you have any information on his whereabouts, you're asked to call the Davie County Sheriff's Office at (336) 751-6238.
