CMPD identify victim in fatal northwest Charlotte crash

- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has identified the person who was killed Thursday following a single-vehicle accident in northwest Charlotte. 

Regina Paulette Strange, 55, was pronounced dead on scene. 

The crash happened at 7:14 p.m. Thursday, May 26 in the 3400 block of Brookshire Boulevard. 

Upon arrival, officers said they found a 2008 Suzuki Forenza sedan that had run off the roadway. The vehicle has struck a large pole for the overhead signs indicating “Interstate-85 ahead.”  

The CMPD Major Crash Investigation Unit responded to conduct an investigation. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash.  

Witnesses on scene told detectives the vehicle drove onto the shoulder several times before crashing.
