Freightliner expected to lay off hundreds of employees in Mount Holly and Gastonia

- Daimler trucks North America employees in Mount Holly and Gastonia can expect job cuts.

Six-hundred workers in Mount Holly will lose their jobs and 200 workers in Gastonia, according to the Freightliner Trucks company.

The last day of work at the Mount Holly facility will be July 1, 2016. The last day in Gastonia will be June 24, 2016.

Some workers in Mexico and Oregon will lose their jobs with Daimler as well.

The Freightliner Tucks company said DTNA’s workforce adjustments are in response to a sustained reduction in orders and a diminished build rate, and are expected to be temporary.

The company said workers will have first right to be recalled.
