Police: Man breaks into girlfriend's car, steals diamond rings and cash

Deputies arrested a Greensboro man after they said he broke into his then girlfriend's car and stole multiple items, including cash.

The incident happened between 4:30 p.m. and midnight on May 28, 2016 at 1126 Powell Bridge Road in Harmony, NC, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

John Riley Wrenn reportedly broke into the vehicle and stole diamond rings, as well as an unknown amount of cash.

Detectives were able to locate the rings at a pawn shop in Greensboro, and confirmed the rings had been pawned by Wrenn.

The investigation showed that Wrenn had permission to be in the vehicle and was also the victim’s then boyfriend.

The victim’s rings were worth over $1,800 total, which resulted in the suspect being charged with Felony Larceny.

Deputies said Wrenn has a previous criminal history of Obtaining Property by False Pretense, Larceny, and Uttering a Forged instrument.

Wrenn was arrested by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on June 6, 2016. Wrenn received a $2,500 secured bond and was due in court on June 8, 2016 in Iredell County.
