Pastor remembers fallen Lincoln Co. firefighter

East Lincoln Fire Department (ELFD) confirmed a firefighter collapsed and died while working out in Lincoln County Thursday.

It happened about 11 a.m. at East Lincoln Middle School. Joshua Warren, 34, was rushed to CHS-Lincoln Medical Center with serious injuries and later died.

Warren was an active member of East Lincoln Fire Department since 2013. In addition, he worked part-time as a firefighter for both the Alexis Fire Department and Lucia-Riverbend Fire Department. He leaves behind a wife and two children, a boy, age 8 and a girl, age 4.

At a press conference at North Lincoln Middle School, officials said a thorough investigation will be conducted and an autopsy would be performed.

Warren was described as an outstanding member of the community.

"Couldn't ask for a better man," said East Lincoln Fire Chief. "Very dedicated volunteer, always there to help."
