Hickory man arrested for child abuse, larceny

- A Hickory man is facing multiple charges, including child abuse, after a young child was discovered with a leg injury. 

The Burke County Sheriff's Office said at 2:04 a.m. Saturday, May 21 they were called to Frye Regional Hospital after a 15-month-old was admitted with a leg injury.  

Detectives, along with Burke County Department of Social Services, learned the child suffered a spiral fracture to the left femur. 

Probable cause was developed and a warrant for arrest was issued on Timothy Alan McBee Jr., 27, for Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury.

Additionally, at 8:44 p.m. Sunday, June 19, deputies responded to 4915 HM Hefner Road in reference to a breaking and entering, and larceny. 

A man reported to deputies that he came home to find someone had broken into his house, outbuilding, motor vehicles, and items had been stolen. 

During the investigation it was determined that the suspect had sold multiple stolen items prior to the report being filed. Warrants were issued on McBee for Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and Felony Possession of Stolen Goods. 

Further charges are pending in this case.   

On Wednesday, June 22 detectives and Road Patrol deputies with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office located McBee at his residence and arrested him without further incident.

He's being held on a $85,000 secured bond.
