Getting Results: Recovering cancer survivor receives much needed AC

- A Mooresville mother can breathe a little easier thanks to the generosity of a local company, which took action to help restore her air conditioning.

Renee Wood is a cancer survivor and has been recovering from intense abdominal surgery for four weeks.

For the past two weeks she has done it without air conditioning.

When the unit died, she bought fans for her teenage kids and a window unit for herself. But the summer sun had been too much.

"It was 96 degrees in here and one day it was cooler outside than in the house," Wood said.

Wood was told she would need a whole new unit and the cost is around $8,000 and there was no way she could afford that right now.

Michael and Son Services took action and replaced her entire system, free of charge.

"I don't really have words," Wood said.

For the installer, Brandon Woodard, this job is more than just another day in the sun.

"It's a really good feeling getting anybody back in air whether it's free or paying but she deserves it," Woodard said.
