61 marijuana plants found inside Shelby home

- The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office arrested a Shelby woman after they discovered 61 marijuana plants inside her home. 

Deputies said on Wednesday, June 22, the Narcotics Division received information that “Renee” was growing marijuana plants in her house located along Beacon Drive in Shelby.

Investigators went to the house and spoke to the homeowner, Sandra Renee Monroe. While talking to Monroe investigators could smell the odor of marijuana inside of the home.

Investigators asked Monroe for and received consent to search the home and outbuilding for marijuana.

During the search Investigators located 61 marijuana plants along with several items of drug paraphernalia and plant growing materials. Investigators weighed the plants and found that they weighed approximately 9.5 pounds with an estimated street value of $20,000.

Monroe was charged with Felony possession of Marijuana, Manufacturing Marijuana, Possess with intent to sell Marijuana, and Maintaining a dwelling for drug sells. 

She is currently being held on a $7,500 secured bond.
