IRECELL CO., NC (WJZY) - A Statesville man was arrested this week after deputies said he inappropriately touched a 5-year-old child in a sexual manner.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, a report was filed on Monday, July 11 in reference to a child being sexually assaulted by an acquaintance.
Deputies were told two witnesses walked into a room in their home and caught a family friend touching the 5-year-old. SVU detectives responded shortly after and interviewed multiple witnesses.
As a result of this investigation, Jamie Cliffton Jarvis, 32, was arrested and charged with one count of Indecent Liberties with a Child.
Jarvis was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center and placed on a $50,000 secure bond.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be sought.
Prior to this being reported to the Sheriff’s Office, members of the victim’s family confronted the suspect and assaulted him. He was treated and released from a local hospital for minor injuries.
In 2015 and 2016 Jarvis was convicted of four counts of misuse of 911. He was also convicted of Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering in 2013.
