Officials: Man accused in soldier wife's death kills himself

- UPDATE: 7/28/17 (11:12 a.m.): A man accused of murdering his wife, a Fort Bragg solider shoots and kills himself, according to the FBI.

Armstrong was found in Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday in an apartment.

Police say Armstrong ran away from them into the apartment. The FBI and the Phoenix Police Special Assignments Unit began negotiating with Armstrong for his safe surrender. 

Some residents were temporarily relocated for their safety. After hours of negotiations, authorities entered the apartment and found Armstrong with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased, according to authorities.

The death investigation is being handled by Phoenix PD.

The Charlotte Division of the FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man wanted for murdering his wife, a Fort Bragg solider, according to officials.

A warrant for murder was issued for 27-year-old Jason Earl Armstrong, Jr., on Friday, July 8. He is accused of killing his wife, Iris Armstrong inside their home on the Fort Bragg Army Base in Fayeteville, NC on Friday, July 1.

Armstrong has black hair, brown eyes, 5'11" and weighs 150-160 pounds.

He has ties to Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, California, Louisiana and Arizona.

Armstrong should be considered armed and dangerous. He was seen on surveillance video using the victim's debit card shortly after the murder occurred, according to authorities.

If you see him call 911 or your local FBI office. The investigation is being led by the FBI Charlotte Division, Fayetteville Resident Agency with assistance from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Division.
