CHARLOTE, NC (WJZY) - Multiple fire and rescue crews responded to a large fire Tuesday at a warehouse involving hazardous materials in west Charlotte.
The incident happened at a building along the 1900 block of John Crosland Junior Way, just off of Wilkinson Boulevard.
Medic said one person is being treated for minor injuries, and was taken to CMC.
Authorities on scene said conditions were extremely hot and a "mass casualty" was set up to keep first responders safe.
According to PIO Captain Gist, the fire was extinguished by the sprinkler system.
Firefighters used a decontamination unit before they left the scene as a precaution. Officials don't know what exactly the chemical was, but say it does not pose a threat to the public because most that spilled was caught in a retention pond.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
