Woman survives attempted ATM robbery, suspect photo released

- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a man tired to rob a Charlotte woman at gunpoint while she used an ATM.

The woman who was assaulted told FOX 46 Charlotte the attack still haunts her on a daily basis.

It was a Fourth of July errand the woman said she won't soon forget.

"I look over my shoulder all the time. I never go out at night," she said.

The woman said she was making a simple ATM run when the man, shown in the surveillance photo above, approached her.

"He said I think you don't understand, I want your money," she explained.

The woman said she told the man she didn't have any money, and that's when he went for his gun.

"He took his gun and he raked it across my eye. No stitches and no blood, it was a bone injury," she said.

At that moment, she began to pray.

"Fear, I was praying to God. I just thought about all that could be," she said.

Getting away, in a nearby car, the whole ordeal was far from over for her.

"What really brought it home to my mind was later that afternoon when I got home and got settled in and the fireworks started going off and I kept seeing that gun. What if he would have shot me in the face..." she said.

"And I'm just so thankful he doesn't know who I am, and where I live and come back to hurt me."

If anyone has any information that will help police track down the person responsible, they're asked to Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
