CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - It's another hot one in Charlotte.
"This summer is really, really hot," Jutin Shiah said.
Which had many at Romare Bearden Park looking for way to cool down.
"Run through the water wall is what we've told the kid. I've packed us a picnic and we are just going to spend the afternoon playing and beating the heat," Leslie Wagner said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management is urging residents to plan for high temperatures. As the heat index will reach close to one-hundred degrees.
"We do see some heat related injuries calls when it gets to these extreme temperatures that were having," MEDIC Operations Supervisor John Stroup said.
MEDIC gave FOX 46 Charlotte some tips on how to stay cool if you plan on being outside.
Stay hydrated by drinking water before going outside and having a water bottle with you when you do go outside. Avoid caffeinated or sugary drinks. Carry a cool rag around your neck and if possible stay in the shade.
"Obviously the best thing to do is to stay inside in the air conditioning if possible when it's really hot outside or if you have to be outside, limit your time outdoors," Stroup said.
Everyone is doing everything they can to stay cool out here but people at Romare Bearden Park say that this is just how they like their weather
"I kind of like it. A little bit, makes me feel like I’m doing something when I’m sweating and this way you don't have to do much," Ronnie Norris said.
"Our little ones prefer to be out. As do we. We are an outdoor family. We love to go hiking and camping and anything to be outdoors," Wagner said.
To have the best of both worlds and enjoy your time outdoors, you have to prepare to avoid any heat exhaustion.
"So we still want to come out and hang out. So we stay under the shade and making sure we are drinking plenty water and stay hydrated," Shiah said.
