Police: Kitten shot with BB gun, may have to get eye removed

- The York County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a woman reported a young man was shooting at her granddaughter's kitten.

Deputies said they met with Vera Mcgill Wilson on Sunday, July 17. She advised that she had a problem with a young man shooting at a kitten in her yard.

The 58-year-old woman told police the kitten belongs to her young grandchild.

Wilson reported that the young man, who is not identified because he is a juvenile, shot the cat approximately nine times and caused eye damage to the right eye of the animal.

She took the kitten to the York Veterinarian Office where it was discovered the cat's eye may also have to be removed due to the severity of injuries.

This case remains under investigation. So far, no arrests have been made.

York Veterinarian made this statement on the kitten:

This is Survivor, he was reported to have been shot 9 times at point blank range by a BB gun. When he came to us last week, his right eye was swollen shut. X-rays revealed he has 3 BBs still inside him with one in the chest and two in the abdomen that are not interfering with his organ systems.

We are trying everything to save his eye and will be performing surgery tomorrow to help repair the ulceration (hole) in his right eye.
