Family seeks answers after 3 year murder case remains unsolved

- Instead of celebrating her wedding anniversary or birthday this month, the mother of James Price hosts a vigil for her son's life. At just 24-years-old, Price was murdered outside a popular concert venue in 2013.

"We are celebrating my sons life," said Elaine Price, when asked to describe the event.

Elaine is a mother who lost a loved one too soon. She still wears a shirt to remember her son James.

It was back on July 26, 2013 when James Warren Price was stabbed outside what was then called the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. It happened soon after a concert let out for the night. CMPD officers at the event quickly arrived to provide first aid, but it was too late. Price died at the scene.

It's now 3 years later and family and friends gather every July singing songs and releasing balloons. It's all an effort to bring justice for James Price and his family.

"It's just not the same anymore. I miss him lots," said Elaine.

The case remains unsolved, but Elaine Price hopes keeping her son's memory alive will bring forward new leads.

"There will never be closure, but that will help," said Price.

Price says she knows she isn't alone missing a loved one. She has turned on the TV to see the senseless deaths across America and the black lives matter movement take off. Her message remains one of love and peace, not outrage.

"It only matters if the police or somebody in uniform kills somebody, but we are killing eachother everyday. So my thing is all lives matter," said Price.

Investigators believe that James Price was involved in a fight and the suspects who stabbed him may have quickly left the scene by car. Now, 3 years later, anyone with information is still asked to call Crimestoppers, where you can remain anonymous.
