LINCOLNTON, NC - A man has been charged after traveling to meet who he believed was a 14-year-old girl for sex, according to police.
David Eugene Chapman, 54 of Hickory, was arrested Friday following a week long investigation by the Lincolnton Police Department.
Chapman and detectives, posing as a 14-year-old girl, discussed meeting to have sex on various social media outlets, according to a press release from Lincolnton Police. Chapman also sent pictures that were “deemed to be obscene,” the release stated.
Arrangements were made for Chapman to meet the teen at a prearranged location. He was arrested without incident.
Chapman, who has no criminal history, is charged with soliciting a minor for an unlawful sex act by the use of a computer and appearing to meet the minor and disseminating obscenity to a minor. He was given a $25,000 secured bond and placed in the Lincolnton County Jail.
