IREDELL CO., NC (WJZY) - The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a young girl was reportedly sexually assaulted by a family friend.
Deputies said the female victim was taken to the Terry-Hess House Children’s Advocacy Center in Salisbury, North Carolina where a forensic interview was conducted.
She stated between October 18, 2015 and November 25, 2015, Aaron Lee Poole, 33, sexually assaulted her.
During the investigation Benfield was able to gather statements from other family members. After the investigation, charges were filed against Poole for six counts of Taking Indecent Liberties with a Child.
He is currently in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond.
At the time these offenses occurred, Poole was out of jail on a $75,000 bond and awaiting trial for two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child in a case investigated by the Mooresville Police Department.
