Neighborhoods flooded in downtown Statesville

- FOX 46 Charlotte is getting reports of severe flooding in downtown Statesville. 

A viewer sent in photos in showing flooding at Statesville High School and the CVS on Center Street. 

So far, no injuries have been reported in the area. Authorities are urging drivers to 'turn around, don't drown'. 

There is currently a ‪‎Flash Flood Watch‬ for most of the area including Mecklenburg, Gaston, Lincoln & Union county.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Flash Flood Watch for Rowan County in effect through Thursday morning. 

NWS said slow moving to the passage of multiple storms over the area will result in heavy to excessive rainfall rates. The rainfall is expected to results in Flash Flood along small creeks and streams. 

Coverage of the showers and storms are forecast to increase across the eastern slopes to the adjacent Piedmont Wednesday evening and remain overnight. 

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to a Flash Flood. Authorities said Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation. Folks should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
