INDIAN TRAIL, NC (WJZY) - UPDATE: 12:00 p.m. (8/10/16):
Joe Fiva's attorney released the following statement Wednesday.
"We have seen the recent news article. Joe adamantly denies any wrongdoing with respect to any investigation into the Indian Trail Park or his employment with Indian Trail. During his term, Joe capably served as the town manager of Indian Trail during a period of rapid population growth. He oversaw the completion of numerous capital improvements, the town received 6 consecutive years of clean financial audits during his term, and he left the town in a stronger financial position than when he arrived. He looks forward to a conclusion by the S.B.I."
The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into former Indian Trail Town Manager Joe Fivas for possible financial crimes.

The S.B.I. told FOX 46 Charlotte it's been investigating former Indian Trail Town Manager Joe Fivas since November 2015. It's the same month Fivas resigned from the position of manager.
FOX 46 Charlotte learned Fivas is under investigation by the Financial Crimes Unit of the S.B.I. and that the Union County Sheriff's Office asked for the investigation.
The S.B.I. stated it's reportedly related to the construction and purchasing of equipment for a town park. Beyond this - they're unable to discuss other details of the investigation as it's ongoing.
FOX 46 Charlotte did learn the S.B.I. is close to deciding whether or not it will recommend charges to the Union County District Attorney's Office.
