UNION CO., NC (WJZY) - Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting where one man was shot and killed and another injured on Wednesday night, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office.
Trenton Lamontez Chambers, 20, and Bentley Winfred Ivey, 18, both face a charged of first degree murder for the shooting of Matthew David Watson, 26.
The incident happened at 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 along the 3000 block of Ruben Road.
Deputies said two men were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One of the men was pronounced dead on scene.
The other man was transported to CMC-Main. The extent of his injuries remains unknown.
After investigating officials discovered that Chambers and Ivey drove to the residence for a drug transaction.
While there they allegedly tried to rob one of the two men in the home and shots were fired.
Ivey and Chambers ran off but deputies found them at a nearby church.
Ivey suffered an apparent gunshot wound and he was treated and released from CMC Main.
The shooting reportedly happened at a residence across the street from Prospect Elementary School.
This case remains under investigation.
