CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - "God bless you. Thank you so, so much." says Pastor Brenda Stevenson.
Pastor Brenda Stevenson and a Good Samaritan meeting for the first time.
"I am actually not finished. I am actually going to give you another $250 dollars," said Peter Todaro.
For the past 21 years, the New Outreach Christian Center has come to the aid of families who are in need of some assistance. This year they needed some divine intervention to help them help others.
"In the past, abundance, we have had enough school supplies left over to use at Christmas; the older kids for Christmas gifts. But this year we did not have enough to help two children."
After seeing their story on FOX46 Charlotte, local businessman, Peter Todaro decided to take action.
"I was sitting at home with my wife, seen the story come on TV, and I just told her we needed to do something."
Todaro called a local business and ordered enough school supplies to help 50 families, who received those supplies this past Saturday at the ministry's Back to School Bash.
"We as adults need to help them flourish and if they require certain tools to get through society, that is what we need to do," said Todaro.
Throughout the years, this ministry has come together as a group of people to help the community. Now they know the impact that one person can have when the take action and get results.
"Along with this Good Samaritan, I want to thank FOX46 for getting results," said Pastor Stevenson.
"I want to thank FOX46 for taking action. If it was not for it, the story, I would have never known."
