On Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies arrested Jacob Alexander Maye and Tristen Malyk Deese, both 17 and of Waxhaw on charges of first degree burglary and conspiracy.

Investigators believe the two suspects, along with Waters, broke into the home just before 3:50 a.m. The homeowner was awakened and began yelling at the suspects to leave. A short time later, Waters and at least one other suspect returned to the home to retrieve a backpack they left behind, investigators said. That’s when the homeowner saw Waters on the back porch and fired shots.

Maye and Deese were being processed at the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
