Two people dead in I-77 fiery crash involving at least six vehicles identified

- A deadly tractor-trailer crash shut down Interstate-77 in Chester County in both directions Thursday afternoon.

Authorities confirm two people were killed in the crash.

The Chester County Coroner said 59-year-old Norman Edward Kimble of Pennsylvania and 82-year-old Chung Tin Chu of Canada both died in the crash. Kimble was driving a tractor trailer and Chu was a passenger in a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan.

The crash involved three tractor trailers and three cars, police said.

The accident happened around 3:30  p.m. Thursday on I-77, near mile marker 65, north of Exit 65. At this time, it's unclear how the crash happened.

It appears one of the trucks involved in the multi-vehicle crash is from Logix Trucking Company based in Minnesota.

Numerous ambulances, medical helicopters, and mutual aid from York County responded to the scene. All north and southbound lanes of I-77 reopened on Thursday.
