CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The man who called police early Friday morning provided surveillance video of the scene following a murder.
We’re told he was leaving for work around 7am when he noticed the Chevy Malibu, went up to it, and saw blood inside.
Police say the suspects ditched the car on Rupert Ln. after shooting a man and woman and carjacking their vehicle less than two miles away.
The murder happened on ginger Ln. 23-year-old Joshua Duckworth died from his injuries. The woman in the car with him was injured, but survived. A neighbor, George Sawie, says he was shocked when he looked outside.
"When I opened the window and looked outside I saw the place flooded with police, ambulances. It got me scared. You never know. You never know who's the violent person. You have to be very careful and be watchful for yourself," Sawie said.
Just seven hours earlier on the other side of town another murder took place. This one was on Pleasant Dale Dr.
23-year-old Jamarion McNeely died at the hands of someone he knew, according to police. Friends have been posting condolences on McNeely's Facebook page.
27-year-old George Fernandez has been charged with shooting and killing McNeely.
These two murders have marked the 56th and 57th homicides in Charlotte, keeping the Queen City on track for a record-high year.
