2 in custody, 1 on the run after man leads CMPD on car chase, jumps on moving train

- Two people have been taken into custody in connection to a car chase that went through west Charlotte Wednesday afternoon. One person is still on the run.

Around 3:25 p.m. officers were notified by the Real Time Crime Center of a stolen black Honda Civic that was near Rozzelles Ferry and Beatties Ford Roads. The Honda had been reported stolen yesterday from an address on Sedgefield Road

CMPD's chopper was called out to follow the stolen Honda heading northbound on I-85. He then got off at the Freedom Dr. exit and sped down Berryhill road.

The suspected driver got out of the car when he was stopped by a train moving on the tracks off of Freedom Dr. He jumped out of the car and began running towards the train tracks. He eventually jumped onto the moving train.

"Crazy man and obviously people like that should be locked up, not on the loose," Gus ham said

"that's crazy. But he really wants to get away but he really wants to get away," Margaret Adams said

He then jumped off and ran into the woods near the train tracks in the West Over Hills neighborhood. Multiple roads closed down there and police telling folks there to stay in their homes.

Police brought in K9 units to find the suspected driver of the car. Two other people were also present and arrested on Berryhill Road.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
