2 people treated for gunshot wounds in Statesville

- Police say two people are undergoing medical treatment after being shot Monday morning in Statesville.

Statesville police were called about 11:15 a.m. about a shooting at a home on the corner of 5th Street at Raleigh Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken by EMS directly to a medical facility for treatment.

Investigators later learned that another victim, an unidentified man, had shown up at Iredell Memorial Hospital, also suffering from a gunshot wound.

“Just to clarify, this is not any kind of murder/suicide,” said Capt. Bryan Johnson. “Both victims are alive at this point and are undergoing medical treatment.”
