2 shot during deadly carjacking in NE Charlotte

- One man is dead and a woman is recovering after they were both shot during a carjacking outside an apartment Friday in northeast Charlotte.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers responded shortly before 2 a.m. to a disturbance call involving a deadly weapon. When officers pulled up to the Meadowbrook Apartments they found a man and woman who had been shot.

Police spent most of the early morning hours with flashlights processing the parking lot which became a crime scene. They are collecting evidence and searching for witnesses who might know something.

Medic transported both victims to the hospital. The man died at the hospital. He has been identified as 23-year-old Joshua Duckworth.The woman is expected to make a recovery. She has non-life threatening injuries.

The death marks the city's 57th homicide for the year. Police were able to locate the victim's car, a grey Chevy Malibu, on Rupert Lane around 7:30 a.m. Friday.
