Man accused of shooting, killing step-father held without bond

- A man accused of shooting and killing his step-father in front of other family members is now being held without bond in Cleveland County, according to authorities.

Davajiha Najee Quemon Hoey, 20, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 2 and charged with first-degree murder.

“On behalf of the victim’s family, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, and the citizens of our county, I want to thank these fine South Carolina law enforcement officers for their assistance in bringing this suspect back to Cleveland County to answer for his crimes," Sheriff Alan Norman said.

Hoey is accused of shooting Orlando Ronell Daniels, 36, multiple times in a front yard located at 137 Chambwood Lane, in a residential neighborhood just east of Boiling Springs.

Hoey reportedly came to the home and started a fight with his family. His step-father, Daniels, told him to leave, and the shooting happened a short time later.

Daniels was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"God will have the ultimate judgment on this man. In the meantime, we are going to keep him off the streets for as long as possible. Our excellent investigators continue to work tirelessly to bring the District Attorney an extremely strong case," Sheriff Norman said.

Hoey is due in court on October 24, 2018 for a probable cause hearing.
