CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3600 block of Brookshire Boulevard in the Metro Division.
The call for service came in at 6:04 a.m. Sunday, September 18.
According to CMPD, a metro division sergeant, while riding on Brookshire Boulevard at I-85, observed what he believed to be a vehicle accident. After pulling up at the accident scene he noticed a man standing near the vehicle with a gunshot wound to his arm.
Inside the vehicle was a second man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The second man was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic. He has been identified as Darius Deon Chapman, 33. His family has been notified of his death.
Detectives with the Homicide Unit canvassed the area to determine whether there were any witnesses to this incident.
Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service Sunday to process the scene and collect physical evidence.
This is an ongoing, active investigation.
