Catawba County Schools announced Tuesday a parent of one of their students is asking the public for help.

Their daughter, Emily Dowdle, has gone missing from her home after getting off of the school bus after 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, September 27.

The 11-year-old attends Catawba Elementary School. Emily is described as 5 feet tall, has long light brown hair, hazel eyes, and wears black framed glasses.

She was last seen wearing a pink shirt with an unknown design and capri jeans.

One of Emily's parents contacted administration Tuesday afternoon and reported that Emily was not at home and was missing. The parent asked school administration to reach out to other school families for help.

Catawba County Schools contacted school families and got law enforcement involved; however, Emily is still missing.

The FBI and NC State Bureau Investigation is now involved. FBI told FOX 46 Charlotte they appreciate volunteers wanting to help but don't need the assistance in the search. Two separate dog searches took place Wednesday morning.

The Catawba Chief of Police Duane Cozzen says the case is still considered missing/runaway, no foul play.

Chief Cozzen said Emily had missed 8-9 days of school, thought to be skipping. He said she doesn't have a cell phone.

Police are in the process of interviewing students at Catawba Elementary school.

Police plan on an investigative road block between 2-4 pm on Hudson Chapel Rd also another area sweep set for the same time.

In the event you have any information about her whereabouts after 2:40 p.m. on Hudson Chapel Road Tuesday, please contact the Catawba County Sheriff's Department at 828-464-3112 and ask for Chief Duane Cozzen or Brandon Styers.
