Authorities told FOX 46 Charlotte Officer Brackeen was looking for Fenner to serve warrants on him. The two struggled before Brackeen was shot in the chest. He died just days later in the hospital.

Police found Fenner at his uncle's girlfriend's apartment in Rhode Island.

Shelby Police Chief Ledford said Fenner was brought back Tuesday evening and taken to the Cleveland County Detention Center for processing.

Fenner is currently being held at the Gaston County Jail without bond.
