Charlotte City Council writes open letter to the community

- Charlotte's City Council issued an open letter to the community Monday in hopes to reassure the city that it's working to address all of the recent issues and violence Charlotte has faced.

In part the letter reads, "We the Charlotte City Council hear the anger, frustration and need expressed both in the streets and in our council chamber. We have been working to address many of these concerns and we can and we will take additional action. We must enact policies and initiate programs and collaborate meaningfully to do this work together."

The letter also outlines three major key points they'll discuss on October 10; safety, trust and accountability. They also plan to discuss access to housing and good paying jobs.

Charlotte City Council meetings have been taken over by protesters as of late. The council said they hope to address it all next Monday.
