CHARLESTON, SC (FOX 46) - Parts of Interstate-26 in South Carolina are backed up as hundreds of thousands of people evacuate the coast.
Heavy traffic was spotted just outside of Charleston. A handful of school buses traveled into Charleston Wednesday to help evacuate people as they reversed the lanes.
Not everyone, however, is leaving the coast. Some people decided to stay in Charleston. Many spent Wednesday buying the essentials to help make it through the storm.
"I'm mainly stalking up on water. I'm still not sure if I'm heading out of town. I'm not in a flood zone. I'm going to decide tomorrow, but either way I figure I'll have water for whenever I return if I do leave," one resident said.
Many people who are leaving are staying in York County, South Carolina.
