Teen charged after man gunned down in broad daylight near church

- A teen is facing charges after authorities said they found a man shot in the street in broad daylight over the weekend in Lancaster.

Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about 12:42 p.m. Sunday on 13th Street in Lancaster. When they arrived, they said they found Devone Fonta Frazier, 30 of Lancaster, lying on his back in the street with an apparent gunshot wound.

Frazier was taken to Springs Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Investigators arrested Kenneth Jerome Hood, Jr., 19 of Lancaster, about 8:30 a.m. Monday morning at the Palmetto Place Apartment on Pardue Street as a suspect. They said Hood tried running from the officers.

“This homicide occurred in broad daylight on a Sunday in the street around the corner from a church during services.  Hood became our suspect soon after the incident occurred," said Sheriff Barry Faile.

Hood is charged with murder and possession of a firearm.
