Deputies: Couple steals about $200 worth of meat from Food Lion stores

- A man and woman have been charged after attempting to stealing packages of meat and other products from local grocery stores, according to Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 7, the sheriff’s office received a call about a possible shoplifting in progress at the Food Lion on Turnersburg Highway.

The caller was able to provide a description of the two suspects and their vehicle to authorities, who later pulled the 1999 Jeep Cherokee over.

The driver, Shannon G. Fox, 45 of Statesville and his passenger, Kimberly D. Dagenhart, 39 of Statesville, admitted to stealing two packs of steak and a pack of cheese from the Food Lion.

Investigators learned that the two had been to two other Food Lion stores in the area and allegedly stole packages of meat, totaled at $183.94, from there as well.

Fox was charged with two counts of larceny. Dagenhart was charged with one count of larceny. Both suspects are already convicted felons, according to deputies.

Deputies said all of the meat was returned to the stores.
