Suspect in two Kangaroo Express robberies arrested

- The Mooresville Police Department arrested a local man Tuesday after he attempted to rob a convenience store - just hours after robbing a Kangaroo Express. 

Police said around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 8 they received a 911 call from the Kangaroo Express on 354 S. Main Street in reference to a robbery in progress. 

Upon arrival, officers located Robert Preston Campbell, 41, being detained by several customers inside the business. Witnesses told police Campbell attempted to rob a customer, then turned his attention on the clerk who was behind the counter. 

Campbell assaulted the clerk who was calling 911. Several customers subdued Campbell and held him until officers arrived on scene. 

Campbell was arrested and is being charged with common law robbery and assault on a female. 

Police said Campbell was also wanted for robbing the Kangaroo Express on 598 N. Main Street Monday night. He is currently being held at the Mooresville Police Department and will be taken to the Iredell County Jail.
