5 charged in Catawna County double murder not to face death penalty

- Five men charged with the March 2016 deaths of two people in Catawba County are facing the possibility of life in prison without parole.

Prosecutors announced that they will not pursue the death penalty in the double homicide cases against Arsenio DeWayne Curtis, William Crawford Powell Jr., Jordan Alexander Rivera, Reand Pablo-Antonio Rivera and Devin Maurice Ussery.

The five men are each charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of 34-year-old Mark Anthony Wilson and 39-year-old Deidra LaCarol Ramseur. The crime took place at the couple's home on Rest Home Road in Conover back in March 2016.
