MINT HILL, NC (FOX 46) - The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office and CMPD are teaming up in an effort to find Peter Welsey Evans, who has been missing since last Wednesday.
Welsey was last seen at Stooges Pub and Grub on Albermarle Road.
His family is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information about his whereabouts. They flew into Charlotte from St. Louis to search for him. His mother, Tammy Hyde, told FOX 46 Charlotte she called Wesley’s phone, until someone unlikely answered.
“On the 13th ring a Spanish speaking man answered his phone,” Hyde said. “I asked him where Wesley was said something in Spanish and then hung up.”
She said that’s when she knew something wasn’t right.
CMPD got involved in the investigation Friday because the case crosses county lines. Wesley was headed towards Speedway Gas station the night he disappeared, but Speedway has yet to give surveillance video to police.
“My hope is that we find our son safe,” Hyde said. “Our hope is that we don’t find him safe that we find him to take him back home.”
Determined to turn over every leaf, they searched through dumpsters and the woods.
“The ground was disturbed, leaves moved, branches broken,” Peter Evans, Welsey’s father, said. “Just double checking to see if there was a body.”
After endless searches Welsey’s parents are now leaving Charlotte -- going home without answers.
“Because you can’t replace him,” Evans said. “He has got an 11 year old son and I don’t not want to have to go home and tell him your daddy’s not coming back. I can’t do that.”
Anyone with information on this investigation is urged to call Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office or CMPD.
