Authorities investigating fatal Shelby house fire as homicide

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is now investigating a mobile home fire as a homicide. The home is located on Christopher Road in Shelby.

One man was found dead inside the home from a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff's office captain. The captain believes the house was set on fire to cover up for the murder.

Family tells FOX 46 Charlotte that man killed was 59-year-old Danny Goins. They believe the man responsible is Goins' own son.

"He's probably one of the best brother's you could have asked for," said Rodney Goins, the brother of Danny.

Family and friends believe Danny's son was stealing money for drugs when he was killed.
