SWAT situation ends in Northeast Charlotte neighborhood

- Two armed robbery suspects are on the run after a brief police chase, crash and foot pursuit that ended in a SWAT situation in the Tyron Hills neighborhood of Northeast Charlotte.
    
CMPD says around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday they tried to stop a vehicle matching the description in an armed robbery. The car crashed on West 28th Street and five suspects ran away. 17-year-old, Deangelo Martin and two 15-year-olds were tracked down and taken into custody.

Martin was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a stolen motor vehicle hit and run. Both juveniles were charged with resisting arrest, according to police.

Police believed the two other suspects were barricaded inside an apartment on Bellefonte Drive. The SWAT team was called in Sunday evening and entered the apartment, but no one was found inside.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
