CMPD: Man shot, killed in west Charlotte home invasion identified

- Detectives with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide investigation in west Charlotte.

The call for service came in around 10:54 p.m. at the 6200 block of Rock Lake Drive.

Officers responded to a breaking and entering call for service. When officers arrived they found 36-year-old Talea Antawun Craig, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to police.

Craig was pronounced deceased by Medic. After investigating officers discovered the suspects forced entry into the home and confronted Craig. After confronting Craig, a suspect shot the victim, according to police.

This is an ongoing, active investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective.
