CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) - Holiday travel caused major traffic delays Wednesday that backed up roads far from the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport entrance.
"It took me 45 minutes to get from the Holiday Inn to the airport, and I'm only a mile and a half away. The traffic is bumper to bumper in every direction," one traveler said.
Long-term parking lots were full and drivers were asked Wednesday to use the holiday parking lot to drop off and pick up.
"Everybody's running up and cutting in front of everybody. They just edge their way right in. If you've not got your foot on the brake, you're going to hit somebody," a local driver said.
The good news? Inside the airport was a much different story. Security lines were moving with an average wait time of 5-10 minutes and very few delays due to weather in the Midwest.
