CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) - A SWAT situation has ended in northeast Charlotte after a fourth suspect was taken into custody, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
An armed robbery on Education Way turned into a police chase and led police to a barricaded suspect on Whittersham Drive.
Officers responded to an armed robbery call at 1:43 a.m. on Education Way involving multiple suspects that left in a vehicle.
Officers found the suspect vehicle and tried conducting a felony traffic stop. The suspects refused to stop and a short vehicle chase ensued, according to police.
The suspects stopped and ran from the vehicle near Whittersham Drive. The K-9 Unit tracked the suspects to a home in the 10500 block of Whittersham Drive. Officers tried to make contact with the suspects in the house. Three suspects exited the residence without incident and were detained.
A fourth suspect refused to leave the house and barricaded himself inside. SWAT was activated and the suspect surrendered a short time later and was taken into custody.
