Police still searching for suspects in Mint Hill robbery, shooting

- Tuesday's violence in Mint Hill is a trend Michael Nietto says he's starting to notice.

"It surprised me a little bit that we haven't had an issue like that in that area before however it's becoming more of an issue," said Nietto.

Nietto is a business owner in Mint Hill. Police there say a man was attacked by four other guys and shot after agreeing to buy a cell phone from them off of Craigslist.

"In the last 6 months to a year the area has changed a little bit. There are some subsidized housing next door here so we are seeing a little different genre of people," Nietto said.

Kevin Neel was a little bit closer to the action.

"Yeah it was kind of scary," said Neel.

He was doing work on a house near the crime scene when he noticed a heavy police presence.

"We just locked the doors and kept on eye on it. We saw them bagging up evidence," Neel said.

Police are still trying to locate those responsible. In the meantime, Nietto is hoping the area's reputation doesn't keep taking hits.

"It does affect the business in the area when you develop a reputation when something happens in the market. I would like to see what we can do to address that and have the community come together because w do have a lot of great home and families it's a great area to have family and kids in," Nietto said.

The suspects are still on the loose. Anyone with information should contact the Mint Hill Police Department.
