BB&T Ballpark embezzlement investigation

- Police are working with Charlotte Knights officials at the BB&T Ballpark to investigate if an employee stole nearly $50,000.

Public documents obtained by FOX 46 Charlotte state an investigation is underway into one of the two employees who had access to a safe where the money was being kept.

Documents state that the employee is observed on surveillance video leaving the area where the money was kept with, “bulging pockets.”

The money belonged to the facility’s Professional Sports Catering (PFC). The first stash of cash was in the sum of $32,057 and the second stash was in the sum of $16,500. Both sets of funds were kept in a locked safe.

Police have not made an arrest but did execute a search warrant. Because charges have not been filed, Fox 46 Charlotte is not releasing the employee’s name.

Public documents also state the worker’s accounts of his whereabouts for the day the money went missing, don’t add up with surveillance video and other evidence collected by investigators.
