Drive-thru workers sprayed in face with chemical at Charlotte McDonald's: report

- A man is facing assault charges after police say he sprayed several McDonald's drive-thru employees in the face with an unknown chemical.

According to a report filed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the incident happened about 3:40 a.m. at McDonald's, located at 8900 J.M. Keynes Drive. The victims told police that the man pulled up to the drive-thru window an sprayed them in the face with some sort of chemical.

The suspect, 22-year-old Darryl Andrews is facing charges of simple assault, according to CMPD. The motive behind the incident remains unclear.

“It is outrageous as a community we need each other to survive and prosper, and it saddens me that people can get so upset about whatever goes on in their life, and they take it out violently” Damond Tillman, a McDonald’s customer, said.

“I can’t believe that people would react so violently to a simple food order. I don’t understand all the context. I wasn’t there, but this world’s crazy these days,” Andrew Franklin, a former fast food worker, said.
